A farewell note from Mr. Geddes:
All good things...
It's harder to graduate from high school the second time. I don't recommend it. I'm not speaking at graduation (thank goodness) but I have something better. I have the Internet.
When I was asked by HR why I wanted to leave education my response was, "I don't." That is still true. I don't want to leave Grantsville High School. I bet a lot of you don't either. This is your home, your friends, your family. There is however, a time and a place to move on--it is neccessary to continue to grow and learn--and for you seniors, that time is now.
So you're now about to once again be a little fish in a big pond and that's scary. Trust me, I get it. But guess what? That's exactly where you want to be; you want to surround yourself with bigger fish. There is always, always, always, going to be someone who is smarter, faster, bigger, or more talented than you. That's ok. Find every opportunity you can to learn from that smarter person and you will grow from it yourself. Then measure your progress only against yourself because at some point you'll realize that there isn't a finish line. There is always a bigger fish and there always will be.
I really enjoyed my time at GHS. Thank you for letting me be a Cowboy. A Cowboy I'll stay. Also, this isn't really goobye. I'll see you all around, and when I do I'll be more than happy to stop and chat...and hear your fish stories.
